20 Nov Courier November edition
I would like to say a huge Thankyou to all those who have helped me get Little Lambs off the ground and make it a success. The stay and play group is meeting every Monday morning 10-11.30am for faith based play and craft.
The craft group’s revamp has been a success with the very lovely Jen from JenCreates coming along to show us all new skills. She will be visiting the craft group once a month so please if you missed her in October please do pop down this month for some winter themed craft- all materials supplied.
I attended a conference at the Methodist Church in Woking last month and one of the key points I drew from my time spent there was ‘Where there is the Spirit of God, thats church’ It really resonated with me as I feel God is guiding me in my work as Outreach coordinator to not just aim to get people to attend our Sunday services but to attend any one of our faith based events and groups- even they are not held in church it doesn’t make them any less meaningful and the worship these groups take part in is every bit as valuable. With this in mind I would like to invite all church members to an event I will be holding called ‘Serving God in the 21st Century’ where I would like to open discussions on our community and how we all as a church can best serve them as well as staying true to The Calling of the Methodist Church. Date tbc but I would love to see as many people there as possible to make it a really fun and valuable discussion. Please look out for the posters going up outside the vestry and also in the vestibule with a date.
Lastly I would like to invite you all to join us on the 10th November from 11am for our remembrance event. We are having displays of artefacts, posters and postcards both from the Great War but also modern military kit as well as space to quietly reflect in church where there will be a display of war poetry and moving images from the Great War. Tea and coffee as well as home made cakes will be on sale all day.
In the evening we are having a speaker come and talk to us about the Great War and provide an overview of events, there will be a buffet supper afterwards . If you are able to help man the event either during the day or in the evening please do let me know- I really would appreciate any support offered even if you can only spare 1 hour.
As always if there are any events or causes you would like us to hold or support please do let me know- I am very keen to hear from you.
