On the morning of Sunday September 30th there will be a celebration of God’s blessing to us in the harvest. It’s a time to give thanks for the food we eat and for all those who have a role in getting it to our tables. It’s also a chance to think about those who struggle to feed their families, both at home and abroad, and how we can help them. The church is decorated for this harvest theme and all are encouraged to bring some produce that can be donated to local food banks. On the Monday evening there is a harvest supper to which all are invited but please do let us know if you’d like to come.
Looking after each other in the family of the church is very important to us. All can choose to become part of a pastoral group. Several times a year there is a pastoral lunch after the Sunday service. On those Sundays each group meets together to share joys and concerns, to pray for each other and to support each other. Relationships are built as the groups share together over a meal and group members continue this care throughout the year. Each group has a pastoral enabler and these meet with the minister and a small pastoral team to ensure that those with greater need are known and visited.
We will be supporting various charities throughout HArvest-1) by donation fresh produce to Hope House in Milton for the homeless 2) by donations dry goods to Fareham Basics bank food bank 3) Proceeds of HArvest Supper to ‘All we can’ Methodist relief agency.
